Why Bother Hanging Close Neon Signs?

Many people would think that putting up close neon signs on business establishments is a totally a useless idea. The stores are closed; there’ll be no transactions allowed. So, why bother hanging these signs at all? Well, the answer here is simple. It is for the owner’s and the customer’s convenience.

Business establishments hang neon signs up their storefront windows and these signs are mostly operational 24/7. With the signs left to constantly lit on, there is no immediate way the customers will know whether the store is still open or has closed up for the day. People have the impression that as long as signs are on, the place is still up and conducting business. Using store-bought paper or plastic signs that say “close” couldn’t be seen from afar. People will be required to walk up to the store and sometimes peer through the windows to confirm the store’s open or close situation.

By simply hanging close neon signs, people will instantly see that the business units are not available for conducting transactions or sales at that time. As the signs can be seen from afar, people will not be inconvenienced to get closer to the store. Instead, they can keep going on their way. This is the same for people in their cars. They wouldn’t experience the hassle of looking for parking and getting out of their vehicles only to find that the store they are going to isn’t available after all. Seeing the close sign a few blocks down the road frees them from going through this minor aggravation.

The use of close neon signage can also be practical choice for private practitioners like dentists, lawyers and physicians. Sudden appointments, court hearings or surgical emergencies can come up and they have to leave their private offices. Upon seeing the signs, walk-in patients or clients will be given due courtesy not to wait up and can find other alternatives. If they are more than willing to wait for you, they can just set up an appointment and get back the next day.

The Fascinating Artworks in Neon Signs

It’s always fascinating to see the different designs in neon signs. The meticulous artworks that glass benders do such as flower designs, dog paw and many others are interesting to watch wherever we go. The neon signs have played an important part in all our lives. They have been a constant sight that by seeing a glimpse of the artwork in the sign gives us a clue as to what the business is all about. We don’t have to know the business name in order for us to say that the restaurant is a salon or a dental clinic. One look at the hairdryer or the tooth in the signs is all it takes to give a correct answer.

Just think about the little children. They don’t know how to read Häagen-Dazs plastered on the window of an ice cream parlor but once they take a good look at the ice cream-topped-cone design in the neon signage, the parents know they are in trouble. The kids will definitely be wailing for their favorite treat. Parents who may not be prepared to shell out extra money for the kid’s treats should steer clear from neon tubes crafted like pizzas, chicken drumsticks or hamburgers.

Funny some artworks in the neon signs can be confusing, too. Once you take a brief glance at a fish drawing in neon tubes, you may be contemplating two options. It’s either a seafood restaurant or an aquarium supplies store. The same thing happens with you get a fleeting glimpse at bunny neon design. You’ll either think it’s a “Playboy”-inspired club or a simple pet store that sell rabbits.

Well, there are also universally-accepted designs in neon signage like the beer and cigarette signs. Whatever business the place is in, whether it’s a pub, small restaurant or a grocery store, people will know that by going to these places they can grab a bottle of beer and take a pack of their cigarettes.

Neon Signs Let Customers Know Where and What You Are

When you open up a new store, one of the first things that you should do is to make your business known to the public. Many people are excited to try and check out new stores in their area. Whether you have a beauty salon, an ice cream shop or a grocery store, you are providing them with a new place or spot to go to on weekends or hang out after school or work.

However, there is a common problem with newly-opened stores and that is visibility. Many people may be too eager to see your store but if finding and locating your store is difficult, they will just simply leave the idea of going to your store on the side. Proper signs and advertisements are necessary in order to let people know where you are and what you are about. But, don’t just settle with simple banners and plasticized cut-outs. Why not create a glaring sensation and buzz on your store by using neon signs?

Neon signs use bright and colorful lights in their units. Using these signs, there is no way people will miss your store as they pass by. The signs can help them identify your business name and type of business you are in. Remember when you were cruising down the highway with so many business establishments lining up on the sides? What businesses do you recall most? Surely, these are the ones with highly visible neon signs in them. Considering how the neon signage can give you good recall of other businesses and their location, perhaps, it is a wise decision to employ the same strategies into your store.

The use of neon signage can also have a positive impact on your business. The bright neon lights can induce excitement to the customers making them more than happy to part with their money. Even if you’re not around, the intense glow of the signs will suffice to give customers a very warm welcome.

From Neon Signs to LED Signs

It’s interesting to note that most neon signs stores also offer LED signs. There sure is a big difference between the two. Based on the name itself, the neon signage contains neon gas (and other inert gases) in a luminous-tube which when subjected to high voltages glows brightly. In contrast, the LED signs use light-emitting diodes to give off extremely bright lights.

From the brightness and clarity standpoint, the LED signs are sure winners. There are also a lot of categories where LED signs may rise above the neon signs. They are more energy-efficient. They are lighter and slimmer than neon signage that installation and shipment isn’t that difficult at all. They don’t entail a lot of maintenance. There are no potential risks for glass tube breakage; there are no gases or mercury leaks to worry about.

The only fancy thing the neon signage is capable of is flashing. In order to make an animated one, one will have to build a big neon canvass as there is a need to create a series of action scenes in order to get the desired animated effect. On the other hand, LED signs can be easily programmed to offer various animations and within their single units.

Nevertheless, it’s all about preference. For us who grew up with the neon sign technology, letting go of this signs is a difficult thing to do. Sure advancements in technology allow us to see the brighter and clearer lights in LED signs but the nostalgia that the neon signs stir in us is a very powerful emotion. The neon signage has a quiet appeal. It has more warmth and is exceedingly inviting.

It’s up to today’s generation to pick out what they prefer. Whatever they choose, we all know both these signs serve one main goal. And, that is to keep us coming to the business places they humbly serve.

Attention Grabbing Open Neon Signs

Open neon signs are important fixtures outside any business unit. These signs bearing only four letters “O-P-E-N”  can make a huge difference in the everyday operation of the business. They can quietly inform the customers that the store or shop is ready to conduct sales or transactions and offer them the services that they need.

There have been countless times we have walked past certain stores because they don’t give clear impressions that they are up and ready for business. This can hurt the owners pocket real hard. Think of how many people they would have been able to sell their products to or the number of services they could have given out had they put up simple open neon signs in the first place.

For any business, keeping a constant pour of people into the store or shop is crucial. While at the start of the business, owners can create a good buzz by doing elaborate advertising campaign in television, radio and print media. In the long run, these services can cost a lot of money. They don’t even guarantee that people who have seen the TV commercial or have heard the radio jingle will come to the store right away. Yes you can aim for a bigger market but why not get the ones who are already standing a few meters outside?

If the store is located in a prime location where there is a huge traffic of people in the area, the use of open neon signs as attention grabbers are very helpful. People will immediately take notice of your store in a long line of shops in the said spot. Customers who are right in front of your stores won’t be left clueless whether you’re up for business or not. Getting hold of the walk-in customers is very important. These are people who are willing to splurge whenever they see a great deal.
